LIVE: Over 80 crore citizens provided free ration during COVID-19, says PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently interacting with beneficiaries of PM-GKAY in Madhya Pradesh where he informed that over 80 crore citizens were provided free ration during COVID-19 pandemic. During the video conferencing, PM Modi said, “India gave first priority to the poor, in its strategy to combat the crisis due to Corona. Be it Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana or Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Rozgar Yojana, we thought about the food & employment of the poor from the first day itself.”
Later in the day, President Ram Nath Kovind will be hosting a high tea at the Rashtrapati Bhavan for the Union council of ministers today. The Rashtrapati Bhavan described it as a courtesy meeting.
Additionally, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted thunderstorm accompanied with light to moderate intensity rains in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and nearby areas. In West Bengal, at least six districts are reeling under flood following the release of water from the Damodar Valley Corporation dams and heavy spells of rain.
In other developments, Bihar is set to ease the COVID-19 restrictions further. Even schools for Classes 9 to 12 along with colleges and coaching institutions are reopening from today.
