In a huge blow to the Aam Aadmi Party, 13 councillors resigned from its primary membership. The rebel councillors are likely to float a separate party under the leadership of Hemchand Goyal. Mukesh Goyal, who was the leader of the House for AAP in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, is among the rebels.

All the municipal councillors resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party and decided to form Indraprastha Vikas Party.

The councillors who resigned are Mukesh Goyal, Hemanchand Goyal, Dinesh Bhardwaj, Himani Jain, Usha Sharma, Sahib Kumar, Rakhi Kumar, Ashok Pandey, Rajesh Kumar, Anil Rana, Devendra Kumar, and Himani Jain.

The jolt hit AAP just three months after three other councillors — Anita Basoya (Andrews Ganj), Nikhil Chaprana (Hari Nagar) and
Dharamvir (R K Puram) — joined the BJP.
