Canopy Of Rajkot Airport Terminal Collapses Day After Delhi Accident
A canopy at the passenger pickup and drop area outside the Rajkot airport terminal in Gujarat has collapsed amid heavy rains. The incident comes a day after a similar incident at the Delhi airport killed a person and injured six.
This is the third such incident in as many days.
No injury has been reported yet. The Rajkot International Airport was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 27, 2023.
Centre Ordered Safety Review Of 157 Airports
The Rajkot incident was the third airport terminal canopy collapse in three days. On Thursday, the canopy the newly inaugurated Dumna airport terminal in Jabalpur collapsed. The Jabalpur airport building was inaugurated by PM Modi on March 10 this year.
On Thursday, a portion of the roof outside Delhi airport’s Terminal-1 collapsed.
Right after the twin accidents at the Delhi and Jabalpur airports on Friday, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu said that he had ordered a review of the safety at all 157 airports across India.
