Mumbai News Live: Maharashtra posts drop in Covid-19 cases at 43,211; positivity rate of 21 %

Mumbai Live News: Maharashtra on Friday recorded 43,211 new coronavirus cases, down by 3,195 from a day ago, and 19 fresh fatalities linked to the infection, while the active tally crossed the 2.60-lakh mark, the health department said. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said the Centre should think about enforcing mandatory Covid-19 vaccination to tide over hesitancy among a segment of people.

The state has reported 238 new cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus, raising their overall count to 1,605, a health department official said. Maharashtra’s positivity rate is 21.13 per cent, the official said.

With 13,702 cases, Mumbai recorded a drop of 16.55% in daily Covid-19 cases on Thursday from the previous day. However, this drop didn’t reflect in the state’s tally as Maharashtra again reported over 46,406 cases on Thursday.
