Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday sharply criticised the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal, alleging that the state administration is preventing citizens from availing the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
Addressing a rally in West Bengal, PM Modi said, “Today, Bengal is the only state where the Ayushman Bharat scheme has not been implemented. The TMC government is preventing my brothers and sisters in Bengal from availing the benefits of the Ayushman scheme. It is essential to bid farewell to such a ruthless government from Bengal.”
“The TMC government here is very irresponsible, very cruel. The money that the central government sends for the poor is being looted by TMC members,” PM Modi stated.
“The TMC people have become the enemies of my poor brothers and sisters in Bengal. They don’t care about your suffering; they are only interested in filling their own coffers… The TMC is preventing any of my brothers and sisters in Bengal from receiving the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat scheme. This heartless, cruel government must be removed from power in Bengal,” the Prime Minister also said.
Earlier, the Prime Minister flagged off the first Vande Bharat Sleeper train and said that this will transform long-distance travel in India, making journeys “more comfortable, splendid and memorable” for passengers across the country.
Addressing a gathering after flagging off India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train here, the Prime Minister highlighted the momentum of development in the state.
PM Modi, in his speech, said, “Today, the campaign to accelerate West Bengal’s progress from Malda has gained even more momentum. Just a short while ago, the laying of foundation stone and inauguration of numerous projects related to West Bengal’s development took place.”
