Maharashtra Cyber Cell Files Case, NHRC Directs Removal Of Videos

The Maharashtra Cyber Cell also filed a case against the YouTube show on Tuesday, naming a total of 30-40 people, including all those who were involved from the first episode to the sixth. Maharashtra Cyber Cell sid that the process of sending notices to everyone had begun and that everyone will be called to record their statements.

Allahbadia stirred a massive controversy after he asked a contestant on the show: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life, or would you join in once and stop it forever?”

This trigerred backlash, with many demanding that stricter regulations be implemented on content being shared online. The National Human Rights Commission also sougt the removal of the videos containing Alhabadia’s remarks. It sent a letter to the video streaming platform.

In a post on X, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had also said on Monday that an FIR has been filed by the Assam Police against the YouTubers and influencers involved in the controversial show.

Commenting on the case filed against the influencers by the Assam Police, Guwahati Joint Police Commissioner had said: “We received a complaint that some YouTubers made obscene and vulgar comments regarding parents and child at Samay Raina’s ‘India’s Got Latent’ show… In prima facie enquiry, we found the complaint to be genuine. A case was registered with Cyber Police – case no. 03/2025 U/S 79/95/294/296 BNS, 2023 R/W Sec 67 IT Act, 2000, R/W Section 4/7 of Cinematograph Act 1952, R/W Section 4/6  of Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.”

In a separate development, the All Indian Cine Workers’ Associations wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, demanding a ban on the YouTube show and a legal action against its creators as well.
