Popular YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, known for BeerBiceps, is facing backlash for making inappropriate jokes on India’s Got Latent. Many viewers criticised his remarks and called for a boycott. After the controversy, Ranveer issued a statement, sparking a debate on content regulation on OTT platforms.

YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia issues an apology

“My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry,” said Allahbadia after his remarks sparked outrage on social media.

“Many of you asked if this is how I wish to use my platform and obviously this is not how I wish to use it. I am not going to give any context, justification or reasoning behind whatever happened. I am just here for an apology,” he added.

What is the controversy about YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia and India’s Got Latent?

Ranveer Allahbadia made the comments during a recent episode of India’s Got Latent, where he appeared as a judge alongside content creators Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija, also known as The Rebel Kid. A complaint has been filed in Mumbai, Maharashtra, against popular social media personalities for allegedly using abusive language on the show.

The complaint was filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission, demanding strict action against those named in the letter. The letter claimed that the remarks were made to gain attention and profit from controversy, without considering the harm to women’s dignity or the negative impact on young audiences, especially minors.

Content creators Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija, along with BeerBiceps podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, appeared in an episode of Samay Raina’s show.

During the show, Allahbadia asked a contestant an inappropriate ‘would you rather’ question about their parents. His remarks went viral, leading to massive backlash on social media.

Ranveer Allahbadia, a content creator with more than 10 million subscribers on YouTube, was honored with the Disruptor of the Year award by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the National Creators Award held at Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam last year.
