New Delhi:
Four Union Ministers will fly to Ukraine’s neighbouring countries to coordinate the evacuation of Indian students stranded in the middle of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting with top ministers and officials this morning on the Ukraine crisis and Indians who are trying to leave Ukraine.
Ministers Hardeep Puri, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kiren Rijiju and VK Singh will travel to the countries surrounding Ukraine as special envoys of India to help with the evacuation.
Jyotiraditya Scindia will be in charge of Romania and Moldova; Kiren Rijiju will fly to Slovakia; Hardeep Puri will go to Hungary and VK Singh will be at Poland.
“The PM said the safe evacuation of students is a priority,” sources said on the second such meeting called by PM Modi in two days. On Sunday evening, the Prime Minister had met with Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla and Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, among others.
