No New Year parties allowed in Mumbai; city records 2,510 new Covid cases

Mumbai Live News:  In the wake of the emergence of the new ‘Omicron’ variant, the Mumbai Police have prohibited New Year celebrations and gatherings in any closed or open space, including hotels and restaurants, an official said on Thursday. The order will be in force from Thursday till January 7, 2022, the official said The police order prohibits all New Year celebrations, programmes, functions and gatherings in any closed or open space, including hotels, restaurants, bars, resorts and clubs.

Maharashtra logged 3,900 fresh Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, marking a steep rise from the 2,172 infections detected in the state a day earlier. Whereas, Mumbai recorded 2,510 Covid cases on the same day, which was a steep rise from 1,333 infections reported a day ago. The city recorded one death due to the infection.
